Police Arrest Ex-BBNaija Winner Ilebaye’s Father Over Assault After Viral Video

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested Emmanuel Odiniya, the father of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ilebaye Odiniya, over alleged domestic violence.
The incident gained public attention after the reality TV star cried out for help during an Instagram livestream on Friday night. A viral video circulating online showed moments in which her father was allegedly assaulting her, sparking widespread concern among Nigerians.
Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed in a statement on Saturday that the victim was rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the statement, the police received a distress call around 12:00 a.m. from Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye, Abuja, reporting an alleged physical assault on Ilebaye by her father, Emmanuel Odiniya.
Adeh explained that officers from the Wuye Division, alongside operatives from the Department of Operations, were immediately deployed to the scene, while the Command’s spokesperson monitored the operation.
She added that upon arrival, officers found the residence gate locked and were only able to gain access after several attempts at about 2:30 a.m. Ilebaye, who reportedly had visible bruises, was rescued together with her brothers and taken to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, for medical attention.
The police spokesperson further stated that Emmanuel Odiniya is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
