Actress Laide Bakare Announces ‘Third Time’ Wedding Plans

Nollywood actress and producer Laide Bakare has announced she is heading to the altar for the third time, describing the forthcoming union as her first truly “official” marriage despite having been wed twice previously.

The disclosure came during an interview with content creator Akin Abolade, in which the movie star confirmed that wedding preparations are already in motion, though she declined to reveal either the date or the identity of her husband-to-be.

“I will soon be getting married officially for the first time ever,”
Bakare said, a remark that is certain to raise eyebrows given her two previous marriages.

Her first union was with Olumide Okufulure, a United States-based businessman, with whom she has a daughter, Simi. Following their separation, she married Alhaji Mutairu Atanda Orilowo in 2012, and the couple had two sons together. That marriage, however, came to an end after Orilowo was reportedly declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2014 over alleged fraudulent activities.

Bakare’s latest announcement is unlikely to come as a surprise to those familiar with her views on marriage. In an earlier appearance on the Real Life With Aunty Ayo podcast, the actress had stated that she remained open to marrying as many as five times if previous relationships failed to endure.

The announcement has since generated considerable buzz on social media, with fans and commentators divided between offering congratulations and expressing scepticism over her characterisation of the upcoming wedding as a first official marriage.
