Davido, Sophia Momodu at war over daughter’s custody

Nigerian music star Davido has spoken out amid reports surrounding his ongoing custody dispute with his ex-partner, Sophia Momodu.
Earlier this week, social media was abuzz with claims that the singer lost his composure during a court appearance in Yaba. Lawyer Maruf Muhammed alleged on Twitter that Davido became visibly upset during cross-examination, creating tension in the courtroom.
Responding via his own Twitter page, Davido clarified that he never sought full custody of his daughter, but rather joint custody. He stressed that the situation was not about winning or losing, stating that the only person truly affected is his daughter, Imade.
The singer also revealed that he has decided to withdraw the case. According to him, tensions escalated during proceedings, particularly after he confronted Sophia’s legal representative. He further claimed that references to his late son were introduced during the dispute — a move he described as deeply hurtful and the “lowest blow.”
Davido concluded by expressing hope that his daughter will one day understand that he fought for her.
