Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has dismissed rumours circulating about the alleged death of his father, veteran actor Pete Edochie.
The false report began after an X (formerly Twitter) user fabricated a claim that Pete Edochie had passed away, even alleging that Yul had shared the news on Instagram. The rumour quickly gained attention online.
In response, Yul took to his Instagram page to set the record straight. Sharing a photo of his father, he celebrated the screen legend, describing him as “The Lion of Africa” and “my man for life.” He firmly stated that his father is alive and in good health, praying that he lives beyond 100 years.
“Disregard any false news saying Chief Pete Edochie passed away,” Yul wrote. “The Lion of Africa is fully alive, hale and hearty.”
He accompanied the post with praises and traditional titles, reaffirming his admiration and respect for the Nollywood icon.
Yul’s elder brother, Leo Edochie, also addressed the rumours, dismissing them and assuring the public that their father is alive, strong, and healthy. He cautioned against spreading false information and expressed confidence that Pete Edochie will continue to enjoy long life and good health.
Last March, during Pete Edochie’s 78th birthday celebration, Yul had paid glowing tribute to his father, describing him as one of Nigeria’s greatest icons and a towering figure in Nollywood. He reaffirmed his deep love and admiration for the veteran actor, once again calling him his “man for life.”
